How do I set up and cancel a SEPA direct debit mandate?

To set up your bank account as a payment method, you need to accept the direct debit mandate set out according to the SEPA standard. This authorizes us to send debit requests to your bank.

Authorization is only required once and remains valid for future payments. If your bank account is available as a payment type but you have not yet accepted the SEPA direct debit mandate, we'll prompt you to do so at checkout.

Here's how to accept the SEPA direct debit mandate on the web:

  1. Click Wallet near the top of the page.
  2. Click the bank account you wish to use.
  3. Click Complete setup under Direct Debit Instruction.
  4. Click Accept.

To accept the SEPA direct debit mandate on the app:

  1. Tap image Wallet.
  2. Tap your bank account.
  3. Tap Accept Direct Debit Mandate.
  4. Tap Submit Instruction.

You can cancel the SEPA direct debit mandate at any time as follows:

  1. Click Wallet near the top of the page.
  2. Open the bank account you wish to update.
  3. Click Details under Direct Debit Instruction.
  4. Click Remove direct debit instruction.

Once you have canceled the direct debit mandate, you can no longer use this bank account as a payment method until you authorize the mandate again. You can, however, continue to top up your PayPal account using this bank account or transfer money from your PayPal account to this bank account.
