NC Museum of Dolls, Toys & Miniatures
Let's Play! Campaign
The North Carolina Museum of Dolls, Toys & Miniatures (NCMDTM) was founded in 2012 by the Morris and Nance families to honor their daughter Amy Dawn Morris. Amy, a passionate collector of dolls and miniatures, succumbed to Werdnig-Hoffmann disease, a rare muscle-wasting condition, just two weeks shy of her 22nd birthday. Soon afterward, the Museum opened its doors featuring her cherished collection of dolls and miniatures. Today, the Museum has over 150,000 items in its collection, most donated by people who wish to preserve their childhood treasures.

Since then, the museum has outgrown its 4,000 sq. ft. space and cannot meet the needs of its visitors or conduct essential activities. It is also unable to fully realize its economic contribution to Rowan County and the state. These are two key forces behind our $3 million fundraising effort called the Let’s Play! Campaign that will enable us to create a new museum that is twice as big and just a stone’s throw away from our current location.

Launched with the gift of an open-ended building lease valued today at $600,000 by the Nance family, we intend to raise $2.4 million to reach our fundraising goal.

The new space will enable us to create top-tier exhibits, dedicate space for collections management, and transform the Museum from a homegrown effort to a world-class institution without limits. Our goal is to be distinguished as one of our nation's most recognized and respected destinations for the display, study, preservation, and advocacy of dolls, toys, and miniatures.

We will reach our goal through smart investments in our technology infrastructure, exhibits and collections, contemporary branding, and multi-channel communication. Our hours will be expanded to better serve more visitors, collectors, and supporters worldwide - both in person and virtually. The enhanced Museum will help elevate Rowan County as a “can't miss” tourist destination.

How can you contribute?
Generous philanthropy from those who appreciate the mission and impact of the NC Museum of Dolls, Toys & Miniatures will be essential in making our vision a reality. Pledges can be made and paid over a three-year period.

Campaign contributors can be recognized through Legacy Naming Opportunities that will include spaces in the new Museum. Your name, or the name of someone you choose to honor, can be permanently linked to the important work of the Museum.  For more info visit our website at https://ncmdtm.com
